Bernhardstraat 79

We lived here: 15 July 1999 - 23 June 2007

It was a move from a larger 2nd floor apartment in The Hague to a smaller one, as well as from a larger basement to a smaller 4th floor one in Leiden. All I remember are the stairs we had to climb and paying Tama and Toroa something like a cent for each thing they carried up the stairs. We moved to a street with a majority of Moroccan families and into an area that was largely Moroccan or Turkish. We could see the Turkish mosque from one balcony and the Moroccan one was across the road from the primary school. An annual TamTam multicultural festival was held at the end of our street.

Below are photos from June 2007 during the process of moving out.

One of things we had to get rid of!
This was a prop for Tama's first play, the Lady of the Feathers (2003) and before that a play about Anasia the spider. The box-theatre was made a present for the boys by Jacqueline and Tama made the props. There you see two crowd props and a few sheep.
