Afscheid van Nederland (Farewell from Holland) (installatie)
Rudi Struik was born in Amsterdam and in 1953 emmigrated with his parents to Canada. In 1978 he returned to Nederland. The photographic image that appears through the 3 layers of hung netting in this installation is an impression of a photograph of his family on the steps of the airplane in 1953. It was the last photograph made in before his family emmigrated.
As your view of this work changes, so does the sense of space and perspective of these images on the 3 individual planes.
