ShameStation: The person with the soft hammer hears instructions
to walk or to hit and the person at the controls sees what the webcam
on the top of the helmet shows.
The idea is that one could make another do shameful things
or be inclined towards shameful behaviour if you are removed from the immediate situation.

Ralph and Rick's Haptic mouse was powered with a I/O unit
that is operated by Processing. The mouse had a magnetic inside it which varied its degree of
resistance (over a flat piece of metal) depending on the darkness of the image you moved it over.

DeGenerator 2.0I could not see the point of this projection (above right). The documentation said that if you pressed words, it would act like a language-virus on them, but I could barely see anything and didn't see any response. Most people used the seats for socializing, so I guess it wasn't working.

I'd seen this work at the 2005 Graduation exhibition for Beeld + Geluid (Image and Sound) at The Hague
where it looked stunning. Here it was hard to see the subtle changes.

The video is a record of a 44 minute train view from Almere to Lelystad to which he has applied an algorithm which reduces the scale of the x direction of each pixel. The result is a distorted landscape and cityscape imagery which seems to constantly resonant and mutate, and in which the 44 min recording is reduced to 13 minutes. He shows this image on a 12 metre screen.

It is a great pity that is was so badly placed. It is a stunningly beautiful 'transformation landscape'.

From the front the 8x8x8 matrix displayed letters, which make it less interesting for me.

The glass panel was like a vertical scanner, where every few minutes a new scan of light would erase the old image and record the new one. It was the piece people interacted the most with.

You were given a sticker to attach to your foot which seemed to repel the cockroaches projected on the floor. You could chase them with your foot.

It felt dangerous, and I guess that was the point of the work.

A robot that held out its hand for money, which it then put it in the box which then did nothing. The information asked for money to pay for drinks for the robot.

Ning Shan and Hanco filmed 5 of our classmates where all senses
but one were obstructed and each was asked to identify what they thought it was.
