The back of Tama's banner for the second national protest
he went has participated in in Amsterdam this year. This was against a government proposal to force highschool students to sit in class (without classes or teachers) for 1040 hours per year (32 hours per week). In Toroa and Tama's cases they already have 32 hours of classes per week, but if a teacher is sick, it would mean that instead of having a free period, they would have to sit in the classroom without a teacher. There is no system here of relief teaching as far as I can tell. So when teachers are sick, children and teenagers do not go to school unless other teachers can fill in on the classes.
